    Shabbat Shalom Ladies!

Wow, its been a long time, as a matter of fact, its been years! I just wanted to stop by and inform those of you who have not forgotten about us (with Yahsvoices being hot in the streets and all lol), and give you some information about some new projects. The first is our 2nd collection of poetry (I say 'our' cause anything I do is on behalf of all of us), so halleluyah we have that now available: "From When I was a Black Girl" which is available at the link at the bottom of this message. There is also an audio book to accompany it, (sold separately, that link is also at the bottom of this message). Now, the profits that come in from these projects go toward the maintaining and upkeep of the IHRFC's (Israylite Heritage Research and Fellowship Centers). So definitely support the 'Centers around Poetry' so that we can keep the doors open and the lights on, halleluyah.

Now, the next project is my personal project and I'm very excited to have it available for you. Like that old car your husbands have been working on tirelessly for the past ten years, so is my heart connected to this one. For the past 4 years I have been researching and putting together a novel, The Aftermath. Now, all of this hardwork is now paying off in the final publishing of this piece. Now, because I don't feel like typing out a Synopsis, (lol), I have put together a blog (see below) dedicated to the promotion of this novel.

So that's it family, just wanted to give you this little bit of info about the latest projects now available for all you book worms. shalom again, Yah bless!

    Shalom Ahkotees,

Man, let me tell you.  It is amazing how much 3 days of the raw diet made.  I think more than anything it really opened my eyes a little more.  Like I said before, eating healthy has been on my mind but let it be known, yesterday I was hungry and stopped at Sonic for one of the ahkotees and I didn't order anything because I was like "Do I really want to put this trash in my system?"  My mindset is changing.  Halleluyah.

After speaking with sister Safiyyah, I decided to try and eat atleast one raw meal a day.  Just to stay mindful.  Today I had an avocado and tomatoe salad.  It was bomb! Shooo!

Random Note**  I watched this video on youtube by "hebrewbaby" and it blew my mind.  Wouldn't you know they poisoning us and our babies with the prenatal vitamins.  WAT!! yup!!  That video is a must see, so go check it out.  Here's the link  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNAqd60MUhI  This sister has posted other great videos as well so make sure and browse : )

Okay well that's all for now.

    Shalom

Yeah....had to stop the raw food diet fast early........boo! LOL But for the three days that I did complete it went great. I didn't get sick or hungry for that matter as I anticipated. (or did I just didn't do it long enough 4 my body to start its changes??) Todah to all the ladies who reached out there hand to help, todah ahkote saffiyah who gave me some great tips! For all those who are able to continue halleluyah. One word of advice that was given to me, make sure you don't under-eat while on this fast. If you don't eat enough it can cause some unwanted issues. For the three days of my raw food diet fast I ate like I normally would just with the raw foods and I felt normal. Alrighty so, end of day 3. To be continued.....................

    Shalom,

I regret to inform you all that we had to put our Raw 4:30 on hold.  An unforseen financial situation has arisen.  As you all know, eating healthy can be costly.  I am very disappointed actually : (  However I did finish the hummus and it turned out great.  I will definetly finish this blog when I am able to return for the full 30 days.  In the mean time if you would like to try the recipes that I made, here they are:

    Raw Hummus

    1 cup raw chick peas
2 tablespoons dry basil ( or 1 cup fresh)
    2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
    1 cup chopped celery
    1 cup grated carrots
    1 cup diced tomatoes
    red pepper to taste
    sea salt to taste

The chick peas will need to sprout (soak) for up to 24 hours to soften them.  Over night is generally good.  They will swell and become 2 cups.

Pour all ingredients into your blender and blend on hi until you have a smooth texture.  Enjoy this Raw veggie dip with crackers or various veggies.

I got this recipe from "rawkitchen" youtube channel.

    Raw Brownie Recipe:

    Ingredients
    brownie:
    1 c raw walnuts
    1 c dates
1/4 c raw organic cocoa pwd.
    Directions for brownie mixture:
Food process the brownie ingredients until blended and dry chunky.Press into a small pan, put aside.

    Icing:
    2 avocados
    1/3-1/2 c agave nectar
1/4 c raw organic cocoa pwd
    2 T coconut oil
    1 T vanilla extract
    dash salt
    dash cinnamon
    Directions for icing:
Put all icing ingredients into blender or food processor, and blend on hi till smooth. Spread icing over brownies and pop in freezer to set for 1 hr. then cut into 12 pieces.

I got this recipe from Safiyyah.
    Shalom

    Shalom Ahkotees!

Wheww, today was much better.  What a relief!  But I will tell you.  Don't just eat a bowl of raw broccoli for dinner. Wheww, big mistake.  I had stomach issues all night.  It was terrible.

This morning I ate some fruit and had a smoothie.  For dinner I had a salad and I made some brownies.  They turned out not so pretty, but they tasted good.  Yum!

Currently I am soaking or sprouting as it is called some chick peas and cashews.  I'm going to use the chick peas to make some hummus and the cashews to make some creamy ranch dressing.  I'll let you know how that turns out.  I'm going to be dipping alot of veggies. YAY! : )

I sure am glad today was better than yesterday.  I got off to a rocky start but I'm finding some recipes and my creative juices are flowing.  It's actually kinda fun to put this much thought and preparation into meals.  Plus I love all the colors and presentations.  Perhaps one day I will be able to make cute dishes, for now I better just focus on eatable.  LOL

    Shalom

Ok, so today is January 2, 2010 and it is about 8:21pm cst, day 2 of the raw food diet challenge!

I had two bananas, grapes, a smoothie, a salad and some nuts and I feel great! I'm surprised at how well my body is responding to the change. (Don't know how long that's gonna be! LOL) But so far so good. I can't do it as long as I anticipated, money is looking kinda funny and change is strange, lol, so I'll only be going a week, but I am still very excited about trying something different that is not only fun but good for my body as well. And the journey continues........ End of day 2!

    Shalom,

Well the 1st day is over.  YAY!!  lol.  It was cool,  It has hit me just how long this is going to be.  I wasn't as prepared as I wanted to be, but Yah provided.  I wanted to have all my meals planned out etc, but I have taken a detour, nevertheless, I'm still on course to finish strong.

Today I had a smoothie with mango, banana, and strawberries.  By the time I ate I was so hungry that I didn't even bother to us a recipe.  Just kinda through it all in there.  But I forgot to add honey to sweeten it so the first taste was.... well let's just say I ran for the honey.

I had planned on making these brownies ahkotee safiyyah gave me the recipe for only to realize that I had forgotten to get the agave.  Booo.

So without a meal plan, I kinda snacked all day.  I had a bowl of broccoli for dinner.  Not exciting!! but it got rid of the headache, kinda.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still very excited, however I'm looking forward to better days.

    Shalom
